It might take some time? What should we consider an acceptable amount of time? A week? A month? 2 months? A year? more?

I opened a petition on Dec 8, 2005 about some obvious macrominers and to this date they are still mining away.

And before you ask yes I know for a fact they were macromining. When their hauler was popped by an ore thief I had the pleasure of watching thier hauler go from the station to the ore fields for 6 or more hours in his pod.

Does CCP care? Maybe but when it comes to fighting against macrominers they are highly ineffectual.

Ok let me know when you get out of the 6th grade. In the mean time we adults are discussing if CCP cares about macrominers. For those of us who have been in this game for more than two weeks can tell when someone is obviously macro'ing.

But some of us still would like to know what CCP considers an acceptable timeframe to deal with macrominer petitions. If the individuals who are petitioned are legit players then some response back to the petitioner should be made. Otherwise it looks like nothing has been done and that CCP does not care.

PeeWee please stop spouting crap which you have no clue what you are talking about. CCP has never had a policy (to my knowledge) of telling the petitioner if their petition was vaild or not. But because we do not get a response we are left with the feeling that CCP does not care.

Even though that is an impressive number, it is still obvious that you designed the mining system in eve specifically to encourage people to run multiple accounts for astronomical ingame profits.
You even increased the cycle time on the best mining ships manyfold compared to what normal mining lasers do to accomodate multi-account users better and make it even less involved of an experience for people mining on single accounts.
All this obviously not only encourages people to use multiple accounts to gain massive ingame advantages, but also is the basis for macro mining and farming on a grand scale.

So, while I apreciate that CCP is doing something about macro miners, I would appreciate a mining system that's not specifically designed to allow you to run dozens of accounts at once even more.

My post doesn't say you should yield less ore if you mine in groups. It says that the mining system in Eve is specifically designed to accomodate people mining with 5 accounts instead of in a group.

Macromining is bad, it's plain as that. competing with them isn't a comptition for most people, it's a major inconvenience. macros force relatively inexperienced people into lower security sectors, where they can be more easily exploited, or taken out altogether.

Macros seriously effect people's ability to mine in safe space, and make money without having to get shot at for it. some people aren't into combat at all, and aren't going to wanna go to a lower security system to mine, because they don't wanna fight the rats.

as to what i'd suggest...i'd like to see the devs to allow us to engage and destroy suspected macrominers. we would of course hafta prove that they're macrominers before we engage, but still...i think this would senda message to them that we're not gonna put up with it.
